Goia Mujalli — Biribá
Goia Mujalli brings ideas of the essence of studio into a blank space. How do the objects present in the studio space influence the process of the artist? From a Matisse book opened at a page showing the painting The Red Studio to an Amy Sillman text talking about Colour and how painting can be a scientific investigation.
The project is an experiment of colour and the process of bringing elements of the studio into another space, such as the initial layers of a painting to stains from the practice of erasure.
Goia Mujalli’s work explores ideas of cultural and geographic identity through painting by abstracting the essence of Brazilian landscape and its culture. These ideas are investigated by exploring repetitive rhythmic motifs, colour, transparencies, erasures and movement.
